Job Summary:
The Total Rewards Director will be instrumental in how LaserAway strategically elevates the design and implementation of rewards systems to drive talent attraction and retention, balanced with business goals. As a trusted advisor, this leader will own a comprehensive and forward-looking strategy that will demonstrate our strong employee value proposition through total rewards . Reporting to the VP of HR, this role will build and manage scalable compensation frameworks, incentive programs, and competitive benefits offerings across clinical, sales, and corporate teams. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who brings strong analytical expertise, deep knowledge of compensation and benefits compliance, and experience supporting growth in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Compensation Design & Execution
- Build and implement a compensation structure from the ground up, including job leveling, salary ranges, and commission/incentive plans tailored for clinical, retail sales, and leadership roles that ensures both internal and external equity.
- Lead annual compensation cycle planning, including merit increases, promotions, and market adjustments.
- Partner with the CFO, HR, and senior leadership to develop a compensation philosophy and strategies that align with financial performance and operational goals.
- Evaluate and evolve commission plans to drive performance in a high-volume, service-oriented environment.
- Manages research and benchmarking to inform executive pay recommendations, ensuring alignment with governance standards, shareholder expectations, and regulatory compliance.
- Support with preparing materials and analyses for the Compensation Committee and Board of Directors.
Benefits Strategy & Optimization
- Lead the strategy of company-wide benefits programs including health and welfare and retirement plans.
- Assess current benefits offerings while benchmarking against external trends to develop a long-term strategy that aligns with workforce needs and cost-effectiveness.
- Oversee all aspects of benefits plan and program administration, vendor management, renewals, open enrollment, compliance with applicable laws, and employee education.
- Develop and coordinate communications strategies and activities designed to achieve employee awareness, understanding, and appreciation of the programs offered.
- Identify new programs that support employee wellness, retention, and satisfaction, especially in a retail clinical setting.
Analytics, Compliance & Reporting
- Conduct regular market benchmarking and total rewards analysis to maintain competitive positioning.
- Ensures full compliance with all state and federal regulations, reporting and filing requirements relating to all compensation and benefit plans. Work closely with benefit brokers and vendors to ensure timely and accurate ACA reporting compliance, 5500 filings, IRS and DOL filings and audit responses, and all other benefit-related compliance obligations.
- Deliver dashboards and insights on compensation trends, pay equity, and benefits utilization.
- Lead annual strategic planning, in partnership with Finance, on company-wide benefits programs and budgets.
Cross-Functional Leadership & Influence
- Partner with Talent Acquisition to ensure offers are aligned to internal structures and market data.
- Develop a strong partnership with HR Business Partners and leaders on initiatives around job architecture, job descriptions, and career progression frameworks.
- Support in cultivating a pay-for-performance culture and performance management processes by tying rewards to business outcomes.
- Increase the compensation literacy of our leaders and employees at large to ensure they understand how we make decisions and have trust and confidence in our compensation practices.
- Resolve escalated team member concerns related to compensation and benefits, ensuring gold standard, customer-oriented service.
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Finance, Business, or related field; CCP or advanced degree preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in compensation and benefits, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong record of building scalable structures in high-growth companies.
- Experience in healthcare, aesthetics, retail, or a multi-state, multi-location business strongly preferred.
- Expert in benchmarking, compensation analytics, and incentive design for both clinical and sales teams.
- Deep expertise in sales incentives and commission plan strategy design and administration that fuels business goals balanced with a healthy pay-for-performance culture.
- Strong understanding of benefits administration and compliance.
- Advanced analytical and financial skills necessary to manage planning and budgeting in partnership with a Finance department.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of various state and federal wage pay equity, and transparency regulations.
- Ability to lead with a strategic mindset while also mastering the details and leaning in with a hands-on approach.
- Must be organized, able to multitask and prioritize, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Must appreciate working independently with minimal supervision, while still meeting all goals and deadlines.
- Ability to manage the creation and implementation of programs as well as key stakeholder relationships.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and data integrity with ability to manage confidential information.
- Ability to communicate complex processes while maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor with all levels of the organization.
